High School Memorial Grandstand Bainbridge Island, Washington
Project Manager: Don Drury
Superintendent: Riley Arnold
Architect: NBBJ Architects
and Jack Christiansen, Engineer
The site for this award-winning memorial grandstand was located 100' from
the school and was adjacent to the school's athletic fields. With a
restricted site and a construction schedule spanning from one school year to
the next, safety was the highest priority for Drury Construction. It was
with safety in mind that Drury Construction decided to cast 98 major
structural components on site in addition to the formed-in-place
foundations. Casting on site eliminated the need for large trucks carrying
pre-cast components to maneuver through the penned in site while school was
in session. Upon project completion, Drury Construction received the AGC
Award for Excellence in Construction in addition to the deep satisfaction
that there were no injuries to the workforce or to the ever-present student
body and faculty.
