Bainbridge High School Science Classrooms Project Manager: Jim Ray During the summer of 2006 Drury Construction performed a major remodel of the Bainbridge High School Science Classrooms. The project converted four 1,200 square foot rooms in the 300 building, into three 1,500 square foot rooms complete with science labs. Sinks in the new rooms were placed along the walls to make way for new moveable workstations that allow for greater flexibility as needs change. Epoxy resin countertops were installed throughout the science rooms, and individual air conditioners were added to each of the 10 classrooms in the science wing. Three state of the art Smart Boards were installed, which combine a traditional white board with a computer, allowing for more in depth lesson plans. One of the biology rooms was remodeled into a genetic research lab; complete with scanning electron microscope donated by The Nuclear Underwater Warfare Engineering Station in Keyport. All lighting fixtures were changed from T-12 to more energy efficient T-8 fixtures. A computer controlled HVAC system was added that constantly monitors indoor air quality and adjusts itself to maximize both air quality and energy efficiency. Fume hoods were added to three of the classrooms so hazardous experiments could be done in safety. |
